Dave is a producer-cameraman-editor. A cameraman-editor shoots with a different intent and skill set than a cameraman who is directed. Namely, Dave is “seeing” the finished piece as he is shooting it, visualizing the transitions and juxtapositions that will give the story its rhythm and punch. Most importantly he’s planning to get all the shots that will be needed to edit together a seamless and powerful story. He’ll bring the producer element into the project via a tightly organized planning and budgeting process; he’ll be on the lookout for cost overruns and ensure the right equipment is deployed. Finally, in the editing and post-production process, Dave relies on years of broadcast storytelling experience to put the piece together fast and efficiently.
